Martha Stewart Shoots for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover at Just 81

Stewart proves, “The whole ageing thing is so boring”.

On May 15, culinary legend Martha Stewart reveals her newest project. This isn’t a new company, a compilation of cleaning advice, or even a carefully created recipe. Stewart, she is this year’s cover page model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which hits news-stands on May 18.

Martha Stewart is Dominican Republic by native. She is wearing an Eres swimsuit from Moda Operandi, a Torsco Creations cover-up and Cicada ear-rings. Renowned photographer Ruven Afanador captured Stewart in the Dominican Republic. Megan Fox, Kim Petras and Brooks Nader are the other three cover stars for this year, but Stewart, at 81, is now the oldest cover star in SI Swimsuit’s history.

Stewart added, giggling on TODAY as she stood next to her ultra-glam cover photo with dishevelled hair and a light, summery vibe, “I like the picture”. I’m shaking a little bit since it seems strange to travel to an island and then change into nine different bathing costumes in one day in front of everyone, but everything worked out okay.

Stewart smiled and remarked, ‘You know, that was kind of a request I have never had before. And it was difficult for me to be on the cover at my age. I believe I was up to the task. Stewart says she “didn’t starve herself” but instead prepared for the cover photo by eliminating bread and spaghetti in addition to working out in the weeks leading up to the shoot. “I’m still going to Pilates every other day because it’s so great”, Stewart Says. “I live a clean life anyway – good diet, good exercise, healthy skin care, and all that”.

The photo-shoot also includes pictures of Stewart lounging on a beach with horses running behind her, enjoying a martini cocktail in a roomy cabana surrounded by palm trees and ferns. Although there isn’t any food in the photo session, Stewart is obviously serving in a picture of her floating in the water.

“For me, it is a testament to good living, and I think that all of us should think about good living, successful living, and not about ageing,” said Stewart. The process of getting older is very boring. Stewart claims that landing a bikini cover modelling gig was an exceptional opportunity and not driven by her typical professional goals.

Stewart tells it like it is in the video’s opening sentence, “Usually I’m motivated by pay”. But this time, I wanted to prove to people that a woman my age can still have nice looks, good feelings, and excellent character.

The objective for the 2023 issue of SI Swimsuit, according to Editor-in-chief MJ Day, is to continue to spark interesting and thought-provoking discussions.

“Martha Stewart is a legend. The characterization of a great female businessperson who built an empire against challenging odds”, Day said in a statement. “Our issue has kept the course, emphasizing the women of today, the people describing the future, while the industry wavers on its arbitrary conception of beauty. Starting with our cover models, which together represent the most unapologetically assertive women from many areas of life who continue to shape their own paths on their own terms, we are presenting an exceptionally varied collection of women this year.

A step into a magazine such as this looks natural for Stewart, who has become the queen of sultry selfies, sharing snaps on Instagram from the hairstylist’s chair, ultra close-ups of her glowing skin and perhaps in preparation for her SI debut, her 2020 viral poolside thirst trap.

“I love to travel. My favourite place to go is the place I haven’t been yet”, Stewart said, “And my motto is: “When you’re through changing, you’re through”.
