The Odd Truth of The Rock – From Homeless to World Icon

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s life was not on bed of roses when he was a struggling youngster.

The man we see on tabloid and magazine covers now only spreads the wings of success and welcomes the sun, but he too had hardship in the past.

The Misconception

Due to his father, professional wrestler Rocky Johnson, having a normal upbringing is a common myth about Dwayne.

Rocky enjoyed a good deal of success in the wrestling world. He was one of the first wrestlers in the industry to debut with a physique like that of a bodybuilder, and he was also a member of the first black tag team to capture a WWF Championship.

Rocky wasn’t the best ideal role model for Dwayne to follow

But this was all part of the renowned professional career. Rocky’s private life was a different matter. Rocky’s lover at the time, Luan Crable, recounted some terrifying stories about the wrester.

Rocky told Luan he was unmarried while he was actually married to Dwayne’s mother Ata. Later, Luan discovered that Rocky was involved with women wherever he went. And one day, Ata learned of the romance between Rocky and Luan.

Dwayne contacted me when he was just 12 years old, screaming, “Stay away from my dad, and leave my mother alone!” Luan mentions.

Rocky’s arrest for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl made things worse. Rocky maintains that the tale was made up about him, yet it caused him to lose his job in the wrestling industry. Ata and Rocky eventually got divorced.

Crushed Childhood and Smashed Dreams

When all of this occurred, Dwayne was only 14 years old. He trained since there wasn’t much he could do.

At age 14, he began rigorous workout regimen. Not for fame or a contest, but rather because our little apartment in Hawaii was evicted. I truly despised feeling helpless and vowed never to experience it again. So, in the hopes that one day my family wouldn’t have to worry about getting evicted again, I did the one thing I could do with my own two hands – I trained, “Rock said on his official Facebook page.

His intensive training was useful, He discovered a father figure in high school football coach Jodi Swick. Dwayne was given a chance to join the football squad by Swick, who saw through the attitude he was displaying at the moment.

Because of his football prowess, he was able to secure a full scholarship to play defensive lineman at the University of Miami.

His future appeared promising until an accident prevented him from spreading his wings. After receiving his degree, he joined the Calgary Stampeders in 1995 and tried his luck in football once again. He was let go from the squad two months into the campaign.

At the moment, he has 7 bucks in his pocket and succumbed to sadness.

“I discovered that realizing you’re not alone is one of the most crucial things you can do while dealing with depression. You weren’t the first to experience it, and you won’t be the last either. That person could have easily pulled me aside and told me, “Hey, it’s going to be OK.” It will be Ok. I had absolutely no desire to accomplish anything or travel. I was sobbing nonstop. You eventually reach a point where you’ve all had enough, stated Dwayne.

Dwayne stayed in his compact apartment and did nothing but clean. The coach of the Calgary Stampeders then phoned him and requested that he visit. Dwayne, however, had other ideas.

The biggest mistake you will ever make

Dwayne wanted to get into the industry and wanted to wrestle, which is the worst decision you would ever make. Rocky informed Dwayne that this would be the “biggest mistake he will ever make” when he heard this.

“Retain that essential element to faith. Have confidence that something position will emerge from your suffering, says Dwayne Johnson.”

With that kind of trust, Dwayne requested his father to teach him. Rocky helped his son even if at first he was apprehensive.

Luan says, “He (Rocky) says his son is his pride and joy.”

Dwayne’s career in professional wrestling started there, Dwayne was coached by Rocky and Pat Patterson, and at the 1996 Survivor Series and he made his WWE debut, barely a year after being released from the Stampeders. At first, things did not go according to plan for him.

He was not being accepted by the public, and it appeared that, as his father had said, he would end up being just another wasted talent in the industry.

He would not, however, give up so simply. As a result of a shift in his persona and WWE’s “Attitude”, Dwayne was finally given the chance to demonstrate his abilities.
