Where is Amber Heard Now? || Update on the Actress after Johnny Depp Defamation Trial

Johnny Depp (American Actor, Producer and Musician) Amber Heard (American Actress and Model)

Amber Heard essentially disappeared from the public spotlight following her dramatic May 2022 defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. So, where is she today and is her acting profession still active?

What transpired between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard?

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor and the Aquaman actress originally connected on the set of their movie, The Rum Diary, and began dating in 2011. In February 2015, over four years after they split up, the former couple got married. However, their union finally failed as Amber filed for Johnny’s divorce in May 2016. Later, in January 2017, they reached a divorce agreement.

Despite the fact that they split up, the Alice in Wonderland star filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife in 2019 after Heard wrote an essay for The Washington Post in which she identified herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”. Although Depp’s name was not included in the article, his attorneys claimed that the op-ed painted him as aggressive and tarnished his reputation in the entertainment industry.

Heard retaliated by suing her ex-husband for $100 million

The trial began on May 4, 2022, and it was over less than a month later. As the two stars testified separately during the trial’s month-long duration, they levelled bombshell accusations against one another that made it one of the most widely covered events in the entertainment business.

The jury deliberated for 13 hours before returning a decision on June 1, 2022, for paying the What’s Eating Gilbert Grape actor $15 million in damages and the Zombie land actress $2 million.

Heard’s attorneys requested a mistrial one month after that trial finished, alleging they had found evidence that one of the jurors had never been called for jury service. Nevertheless, on July 13, 2022, Judge Penney Azcarate rejected the request.

According to court records acquired by In Touch, Heard filed an appeal later that month, and Depp submitted his own petition to challenge the $2 million judgement in her countersuit.

However, both parties abandoned their appeals by December 2022, and Heard responded to the situation at that time in as Instagram message.

She insisted, “I have made no acknowledgement”. This is not a concession act. Moving ahead, there are no limitations or gags on my voice.

After the trial for Jonny Depp, where is Amber Heard now?

Heard avoided the spotlight when the court turmoil was over. She reportedly relocated to Spain with her daughter, Oonagh Paige, who she welcomed in April 2021, according to People.

A source informed the newspaper in April 2023 that “she has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy.” “She just wanted to start fresh outside of the country because the trial was so extremely stressful for her”.

Will Amber Heard be in any upcoming film?

Heard was reported to be acting in the next Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, repeating her role as Mera, despite the fact that she has not publicly announced her upcoming film projects.

People stated in April 2023 that Heard is “excited about working and filming again” in regards to obtaining further on-screen parts despite feeling “disappointed about the trial”. According to Insider, the next action film’s teaser debuted in April 2023 at CinemaCon and included a few of Heard’s on-screen moments. Due to the persistent speculations that Heard had been replaced by another actress, some fans were taken aback by the announcement.
